FAQs

This is a list of frequently asked questions about Calvary Bible Church. If you have any other questions, we invite you to speak to one of our pastors or office staff by contacting us at office@calvarybiblechurchnj.org or 908-534-9445.

What should I expect when I come to visit?

Our worship service is a blend of traditional and contemporary. In the beginning of the service, our praise band leads us in worship songs and, at the end of the service, we close with a hymn. In between, we pray to God, offer gifts to God, and learn more about God and Jesus by listening to a sermon that is based on God's Word. We would love to have you visit us. Learn more about what to expect when you come.

Is Calvary Bible Church a member of a denomination?

No, but we are a member of IFCA International, an association of independent Bible churches. We are a non-denominational, independent, Bible-believing church.

How big is your congregation?

The average number of people in our worship service is in the mid 100s.

What should I wear to Calvary Bible Church?

You can come as you are! Our members wear anything from suits and ties to jeans and T-shirts, so wear what makes you comfortable. The important thing is to be prepared to worship God.

Do you have childcare on Sunday mornings?

Yes, we have nurseries for infants and toddlers during both our Sunday Small Group time and our Worship Service. We also have Sunday Small Groups that are age appropriate for preschool through high school students, or children are welcome to attend an Adult Small Group with their parents. During our Worship Service, we have Elevate, a special program for children age 3 through 3rd grade. Those children start out in the Worship Service with their parents, and when they are dismissed before the sermon, they go to the foyer where they meet their teachers. Read more about our children's programs here.

What ordinances do you celebrate?

We celebrate two ordinances:

  • Communion: We celebrate communion once a month on the first Sunday of the month. If you are a born-again believer who has accepted Jesus as Savior, you are welcome to take communion with us.
  • Baptism: We believe that the Bible commands believers to be baptized by immersion after accepting Jesus Christ as Savior. We will baptize children if they are old enough to understand salvation and have accepted Jesus as Savior.

Do you have programs during the week for teens?

Yes! We have a thriving program for youth. We have weekly meetings for our junior and senior high youth on Wednesday, and other special activities during the year.

Do you have Small Groups for adults during the week?

Yes, we have Small Groups that meet during the week at CBC or in member's homes.
